Google Instant Mobile is released
As we reported back in September, Google launched its new feature, Google Instant. However, it was not supported by mobiles. Google has since increased its technology platform to release Google Instant for mobile.
Google began rolling out a beta version last month and has now moved forward to release Google Instant for mobile across 40 countries, covering 28 different languages.
As with Google Instant, Google Instant mobile will show the users results before they have even finished typing their search. The intelligent feature will predict what you are searching for even when you aren’t sure.
Google introduced Instant to improve the user experience and assist in obtaining results quicker.
Mobiles that have Android 2.2+ or iOS4 operating systems are able to go to Google using their mobile browser. Once users re on the Google page they can click on the Google Instant link underneath the normal search box.
Could SKYPE replace current business communication channels, including core Telemarketing activities?
SKYPE is a software facility that allows phone calls to be made over the internet. Calls can be made to mobiles and landlines (with the appropriate subscription) all over the world. Other services that SKYPE offers include instant messaging (IM) and video conferencing.
The set up that SKYPE have is unlike other Voice over IP (VOIP) services because there are no servers involved in the calls. The SKYPE software that is downloaded onto your PC or mobile device is the gateway for all its services.
Traditionally SKYPE was only accessible from a PC that has an internet connection. Time has moved on and now manufacturers have included SKYPE onto many mobile devices and computers.
Following that, SKYPE is also accessible from a WiFi area. A SKYPE app was released for download from iTunes for the Apple iPhone. This emphasis in alternative communication launched a whole series of SKYPE handsets products generically called SKYPE WiFi Phone.
With the appropriate subscription package, a SKYPE WiFi Phone and an internet connection, calls can be made to a mobile or landline anywhere in the world. In addition, if your PC has a webcam, the facility to engage in a more personal video call is available, for 2 or more people, while sending IM to invite other contacts that you have included onto your contact list in the call or conversation.
In a classic business office would SKYPE calls be useful? Would it be easier to close deals using a video call and not a traditional phone call? Could marketing information from a sample of people be more effective if they could see who they were dealing with? So, calls and video conferencing can be made from your work by using your PC, potentially saving money but also adding more value to an activity. I also include that a call between two SKYPE members is free!
SKYPE will be included onto business cards, default signatures on emails, pre-recorded voice mail boxes, website ‘contact us’ pages and company signage before we know it. Advertising a SKYPE contact is vital when trying to open doors for potential customers or new business prospects.
With this new channel online and established, the telemarketing activities and marketing campaigns may include an automated voice mail message or IM to a SKYPE audience. This message would include a return SKYPE username for the selected audience and return the message via IM or call. The benefit to the business is a new captive audience and the return IM or call from the audience would be free!
Google Instant Doesn’t Affect Website Content Strength
As posted earlier this month, Google launched its new search engine weapon – Google Instant. In summary, Google Instant will present the user with results as they type the letters into the search bar. Therefore, you stand a very good chance of seeing what you’re after before you finish typing.
Early reports suggest that Google Instant has impacted many search agencies search strategies due to keyword selection. Initial findings hint that long-tail keywords could suffer as a result of ‘Instant’ and that the ranking of well-liked keywords will be more significant. However, there will still be a need for fresh, appealing content.
Unique and relevant content is a champion when it comes to SEO. Daily content is a fantastic way to further natural brand engagement as it organically targets relevant keywords, builds natural links and encourages social media interaction.
Google Launches Instant Search
Internet giant Google has launched its latest weapon in the search wars – Google Instant.
Instant shows the user results BEFORE they have finished typing, buy presenting the user with options AS THEY TYPE!
Google is predicting that Instant can save between 2 and 5 seconds on a search, which is approximately 9 seconds as an average. The update will be available on Internet Explorer 8, Google’s Chrome 5 and 6, Firefox 3, Safari 5 for Mac.
“Google Instant is search-before-you-type. Instant takes what you have typed already, predicts the most likely completion and streams results in real-time for those predictions—yielding a smarter and faster search that is interactive, predictive and powerful” wrote Marissa Mayer, Google’s vice president of search product and user experience, at the official Google blog.
Traditionalists need not fear, there is the ability to disable the Instant functionality – but the team Storm think its kinda cool…
